Tech news: Aetna streamlines international health care app user experience

Meeting the need for simplified health care logistics

At Aetna International, we recognise the need for convenient, portable health care support and health benefits management tools. Life is busy, and people need digital solutions that make it easier for them to access consistent, quality health care and keep on top of their medical paperwork from anywhere in the world. That way, they can focus on keeping fit and well, meeting their health goals or managing their conditions.

We recently upgraded the International Mobile Assistant (IMA), the app which makes the most important features of our members’ Health Hub (secure member website) available on the go. Members in the Americas can continue to use the Aetna Mobile app or Aetna Navigator to find U.S. health care providers or to view and track claims.

Simple, convenient customer experience

“We are also consolidating the strengths of our apps by focusing our energies on making the IMA the best it can possibly be. In this way, our customers will have a simpler path to finding the care and support they need” concludes Caroline.

As the IMA contains an updated health care provider directory, Aetna International will be phasing out its provider directory apps and these will be removed from app stores in September 2018, while the China Provider Directory App will be removed from online stores in December 2018. For customers who are currently using our provider directory apps, advance closure notifications will appear on the provider directory app. The notification will also direct customers to the upgraded IMA.  The IMA app will automatically update to the benefit of members who have already downloaded the app.

Further IMA app improvements are scheduled for October. These will include enriching the information returned during a health care provider search and improving the claims search functionality.
