Aetna/Humanis proposition for French expats launches in Paris

Amidst the stunning surroundings of the Musée Jacquemart-André in Paris, French medical insurance brokers enjoyed an evening of celebration on 13th September as leaders from Aetna International and French insurance group Humanis launched an exciting new partnership.

Together, the two companies have created a health and wellness benefits proposition for French expatriates living and working outside of France. The event, attended by representatives from leading brokers, provided the opportunity for insurance professionals to learn more about the partnership’s advantages to their clients.

Guests heard presentations and speeches from directors of both companies including Laurent de Veyrac, Senior Director, Strategic Business Development, Aetna International, and discovered how this unique partnership will increase access to global health care solutions for large corporations and French expats around the world. Sylvaine Emery, Director of International Affairs and Overseas, Humanis, Alexis de Saint-Albin, International Development Director, Humanis, and Mohamad Nizam, Legal Counsel, Aetna International also played key roles at the event. The presenters highlighted how the collaboration will enable better control of health care costs in the U.S. for Humanis’ members and the provision of a health care solution that meets regulatory requirements in the UAE. This simplified health experience is personal, convenient and affordable, and will support members and the future growth aspirations of both companies.

The proposition summary

As one of the largest health insurers in France, Humanis has over 700,000 corporate clients and 10 million insured members. Aetna International is one of the largest international health and wellness benefits providers with over 800,000 members.

The new Humanis/Aetna International partnership will give organisations with French employees travelling or residing outside France global health care solutions that will fill the gaps in cover provided by the nation’s Caisse des Français de l'Étranger (CFE) fund for French nationals abroad. The proposition will integrate and build upon the CFE’s benefits by linking seamlessly with Aetna’s worldwide medical network and compliant global product. It will provide:

  • Access to a wider network of medical facilities in the U.S. and a global direct settlement network of 1.2 million medical facilities and doctors
  • Higher benefits limits and broader coverage to account for places where health care costs are higher
  • Emergency medical evacuation support
  • Pre-trip planning support that includes ensuring continuity of care and medication, and cultural awareness and integration support
  • Guidance in locating and accessing high quality health care facilities and providers abroad
  • Work-life and mental health counsellors to support employees experiencing stressful circumstances
  • Safety and security support and evacuation in the event of a natural disaster or civil or political unrest
