Aetna International Claims Double Wins At Insurance Asia Awards 2017

SINGAPORE – Aetna International, a leading provider of worldwide health insurance, has won regional recognition for its excellence in delivering innovative, effective and high-impact solutions at this year’s Asian Banking and Finance Insurance Asia Awards, earning both the International General Insurer of the Year - Singapore and CEO of the Year titles.

The awards aim to congratulate companies that have successfully made the most of the lucrative opportunities in the Asia market, recognising their initiatives and cutting-edge products. Aetna was awarded the New Insurance Product of the Year award at the 2016 ABF Insurance Asia Awards last year, for the innovative new products Summit for Groups and Pioneer for individuals.

This year’s nominations were judged by industry experts from Deloitte, Milliman, Ernst & Young and KPMG Singapore.

The features of Aetna’s Singapore business highlighted in the nomination included rapid growth, innovative products, and a focus on employee development and engagement.

Ms Fiona Lee, Head of Distribution for Singapore, who represented Aetna International at the ceremony yesterday, says, “At Aetna, we are committed to building a healthier world for all and providing high quality care and wellness support for our members wherever they are. We are delighted to have been awarded International General Insurer of the Year as it proves that we are more than on the right track. It also reaffirms our commitment to continuously ensuring that our products are aligned with specific health concerns and needs of expatriates residing in Singapore and the rest of Asia.”

Mr Derek Goldberg, Managing Director, Southeast Asia and Hong Kong, for Aetna International, says, “It is extremely gratifying to see our Singapore insurance company recognized in this way as General Insurer of the Year, and being named CEO of the Year at the same time is truly humbling.  In accepting this award, I do so on behalf of all employees of Aetna in Asia and around the world who support our efforts in this region.  This award really belongs to the hundreds of team members who support our customers day in and day out.  I am especially grateful to be working with a team that is constantly seeking new and better ways to help people across Asia access healthcare and live healthier lives.”

Asia continues to be key to Aetna International’s growth strategy. Since securing its license in Singapore in 2012, Aetna has grown its member base dramatically throughout Asia, and plans to continue growing its footprint and brand presence in the region.
