How the program works
The program helps you find quality care in regions throughout the world. It works by marking select hospitals, clinics, and medical centers that appear in your provider search results on your member website with a new “Recognized as a Quality Care provider” label. This label indicates that these facilities demonstrate a high standard of care in the country where you're seeking medical services.
How we define “Quality Care”
The designation program uses specific criteria and a comprehensive analysis of data from the previous two years. Providers earn the “Quality Care” label based on their:
- Reputation for treating travelers and expatriates: High utilization by Aetna International members.
- Accreditations: Joint Commission International (JCI) or local/regional equivalents.
- Full-service capabilities: Hospital or clinic with emergency services.
- English-speaking staff trained in Western medicine.
