Summer Broker Event: Partnerships, personalisation and participation

By Damian Lenihan, Head of Distribution, Europe, Aetna International

It’s always great to have the opportunity to showcase what’s been going on at Aetna International and, at our summer broker event at the Tower of London in May, we certainly had a lot to tell our broker audience.

A beautiful sunny day and an iconic backdrop really set the scene for an engaging and productive afternoon. We’ve made no secret of our ambitious growth plans at Aetna or our desire to make health care more affordable and accessible across the globe, so this event was a welcome chance to share how we’re scaling up our capabilities. Our sights are firmly set on transforming the health care experience through a local focus and a holistic health care model. Exciting possibilities lie ahead!

The biggest benefit of holding broker events is always the chance to really engage and build partnerships with this forward-thinking community. The May event did not disappoint. As well as addressing questions about lingering industry topics such as the potential implications of Brexit, our customer proposition team launched Aetna DNA, a genetic health and lifestyle test that looks at nutrigenomics (the relationship between what we eat and our biochemical response), fitness, sleep and stress. Available as an optional add-on to our wellness plans for European members, this is part of Aetna’s vision to change the conversation from sick care to true holistic health care.

Following a fantastic presentation by former Olympic track medallist Andrew Steele about the trials and tribulations of his own well-being, our brokers jumped at the chance to take the quick test. After all, what better than personalised information to spark actionable lifestyle changes? No two people are the same so it makes sense that the best health care is going to be tailored to the individual.   And we’re extremely privileged to be able to support our customers — as well as the brokers who took the test at the event — on that individual journey.

As always, a huge thank you to all of our partners who came along and also to the fantastic team at Prenetics, including Lara Varjabedian and Mia Baker, who ensured testing so many people in such a short space of time ran smoothly.
