G24: The World’s First 24 Hour Digital Mental Health Summit

In the midst of COVID-19, we’re only too aware of how severely some people’s mental health and well-being are being challenged, due to the sense of uncertainty, physical distancing and loss of human connection. At the same time, the ability of businesses and organisations to convene events has been severely restricted, limiting options to address these issues head on.

To tackle this, a global mental health summit called G24 took a bold new approach, bringing the world together for 24 hours on 18th May. Starting at 9am in Sydney and ending at 5pm in San Francisco, over 65 of the world’s leading minds took to an online stage to share insights that could help workplaces imagine, navigate and establish successful mental health strategies. Sponsored by Aetna International, this was an exciting opportunity to connect, learn and drive forward a crucial agenda that has never been more pressing.

Aetna’s David Healy, CEO – EMEA, and Dr Sneh Khemka, VP of Population Health, took to the stage together with Rob Stephenson, founding member of G24 and a mental health activist, to discuss ‘The Business of Health’, including employees’ appetite for well-being resources and virtual health solutions, examples of best practice to support staff and customers working remotely during COVID-19 and what’s on the horizon when it comes to the latest innovations in health care. You can catch up with their session here. You can also read David’s blog on building resilience into the business of health here, and Sneh’s blog on what the digital future holds here.
