Healthcare Revolution 2018: Innovations transforming health care and employee well-being

Several Aetna International leaders recently attended the annual Healthcare Revolution conference in Orlando, Florida, which focused on "Transforming the Business of Heath Care."

The conference theme aligned with our focus on delivering quality care to members… anytime, anywhere.

As a gold sponsor at the conference, we took advantage of two key speaking opportunities to present our approach to health care.

Dr. Lori Stetz, Senior Medical Director, Aetna International delivered a presentation highlighting the global gap in accessible, quality primary care and how virtual care provides a solution. "Virtual care is a key element in using precious health care resources wisely and, by taking advantage of advances in technology, solves for convenience, as well as access no matter where a patient may be in the world," stated Dr. Stetz.

Dr. Stetz also co-presented during a segment called "Innovation in Health Tech: Innovation in Virtual Health and Wearables."

Showcasing our experience with expatriate assignments and mental health, Medical Director, Dr. Mitesh Patel spoke to conference attendees about the challenges expatriates face. "Expats have many new stressors in their life," said Dr. Patel, "including a new job, new city and often the absence of family and friends, making them more susceptible to mental health issues. Anxiety, stress and depression are commonly associated with living and working in a new culture. Mental health can be exacerbated by an unhealthy lifestyle, which is often the result of many hours spent sitting at a desk. We offer the best support for employees working abroad, to improve their physical and mental health, to reduce absenteeism and to improve the productivity of teams all over the world."

Overall, the Healthcare Revolution conference was an excellent opportunity to connect with global employers. Our prominent presence in the exhibition hall made it easy for event attendees to locate us and engage our team in meaningful discussions about their workforce challenges. We were able to share insights on the ways our innovative solutions and health and wellness benefits can support their people and organisations.
