Aetna International advances goal to build healthier communities through Willis Towers Watson ‘future-gazing’ forum

As part of our continuing efforts to revolutionise health care and build healthier communities around the world, Aetna International exhibits and staff were an integral presence at the recent Willis Towers Watson forum, ‘Future-gazing: The disruptive forces impacting healthcare at work’.

Held on 24th January at the Science Museum in London, the event brought together human resource managers from leading corporations to discuss the possibilities, opportunities and disruptors likely to impact the future of health care.

Being a part of this important gathering represented just one of many ways we continuously look for insights about how health care is evolving — helping us determine how we can lead our industry in addressing the needs of our members and of the global community.

“This was a fantastic location for the forum since science is focused on the future,” said Damian Lenihan, Aetna International’s Executive Director, Europe. “It was a great opportunity to network with the Willis team, existing customers, former and prospective clients, and people who share our passion and vision. We look forward to further developing these relationships in mutual pursuit of what’s next.”

Keynote speeches included ‘Fanatical Futurist’ Matthew Griffin outlining preventative technology opportunities and concerns; REBA Director Debi O’Donovan discussing the growing emphasis on workplace well-being; and Willis Towers Watson Health Imagination Leader Michael Perlmutter sharing real-life case studies of clients embracing the new vision of health care.

The event also featured TED-style talks on such topics as disruptive health technology benefits and their ability to drive behavioural change; the future of healthy urban work spaces; and the impact of mental health trends, virtual health care and genetic testing.

"At Aetna International, we’re firmly focused on the future of health care and the ‘four Ps’: predictive, preventative, personalised, participatory care," noted Lenihan. "We’re embracing the health care revolution through virtual care, biometrics, network management, the ’Internet of Things' and many other forward-looking approaches."
